Goal of the course

Primary goal of the course is to share practical experience between faculty and participants in the diagnosis and treatment of fracture related infection.

This will be reached by presenting perioperative video-sequencies with tips and tricks of important steps of all stages of the treatment of this difficult complication of fracture management.

Case based discussions will enhance decision ability of participants for appropriate strategy of treatment.


Participants should have completed the AOTrauma Basic Principles and Advanced Principles courses.

They must be be actively involved in orthopedic trauma management and preferably have at least five years of experience post residency in trauma surgery.

Participants must be willing to share their ideas and be able to communicate well in English.


AOTrauma Masters Course Videosymposium “Fracture related infection" is primarily focused on the improvement of the performance in the treatment of infectious complications during fracture treatment.

4 modules cover care of open fractures, acute and chronic fracture related infection and treatment of the bone defect after infection healing.

Each module consists of key note lecture or case,  2 instructional videos and 4 case based discussions.
