Goal of the Seminar

The AOTrauma Seminar "Management of Foot and Ankle Fractures" teaches fundamental principles and current concepts in the treatment of foot and ankle injuries, incorporating the latest techniques of conservative and operative management. The AOTrauma Seminar is one step along the path of lifelong learning in the area of foot and ankle trauma management

This seminar mainly focuses on the basic principles and advanced techniques of foot and ankle trauma management. Our goal is to provide a knowledge update on the types of ankle and foot injuries and treatment possibilities, and to improve the understanding of fixation and healing after fractures in both early and late reconstruction.

Target participants

This AOTrauma Seminar is targeted at physicians in orthopaedic training but is open to anyone else who is interested in furthering their knowledge and skills in operative foot and ankle trauma management.

Seminar description

The AOTrauma Seminar contains several evidence-based lectures, which cover the key information required. Discussing cases helps participants to understand decision-making and management skills.

 

Learning objectives
Evaluate the treatment options available for injuries of the foot and ankle
Plan a treatment based on assessment, imaging, classification, and decision making
Treat foot and ankle injures using different surgical approaches
Evaluate and recognize special problems and know how to plan the reconstruction of complex fractures in this region
