Goal of the AOTrauma Course - Advances in Approaches & Osteosynthesis - Sep 8-12, 2019:

The goal of the AOTrauma Course - Advances in Approaches & Osteosynthesis is to broaden the knowledge and comprehension of operative fracture treatment according to the level of education or specialty and to practice surgical approaches.

Target participants.

The AOTrauma Course - Advances in Approaches & Osteosynthesis is targeted at certified orthopaedic and trauma surgeons with basic knowledge and skills in operative fracture treatment who wish to broaden this knowledge and who wish to practice surgical approaches for a better comprehension. The course is also open to residents and surgical trainees who participated in the AOTrauma Introductory Course.

Course description: 

The topics will cover different surgical approaches to the upper extremities and lower extremities, including shoulder and hip.

They will be taught in short lectures and videos followed by practical exercises on artificial bones, muscles specimens and anatomical specimens.

During the exercises key steps are projected on the monitors.

Each work station is limited to two participants.

Faculty members and instructors are there to guide you through the exercises.

Instruments, gloves and gowns are provided.

Please be informed: the AOTrauma Course - Advances in Approaches & Osteosynthesis starts on Sunday, Sep 8th, 2019

Prior to this course there is an optional course module, the AOTrauma Course Introductory to operative Fracture Treatment on Sep 7th, 2019 - to be registered and paid for separately. 

The second optional course module AOTrauma Course Fracture Management during Growth, to be registered and paid for separately, takes place on Thursday, Sep 12, 2019, right after the AOTrauma Cousres Advances in Approaches & Osteosynthesis. 

Learning objectives
make decisions as to the optimal treatment modality according to the AO Principles
have learned about the latest developments in research and clinical investigation
be acquainted with new techniques and technologies as well as alternative approaches in fracture treatment
have improved the manual skills by practicing on different bone models as well as on human specimens
understand the evolution of AO Philosophy and Education - what is new and what ist still valid as well as the rationale behind any changes
