Description

Older Russian’s account for over one third of all medical spending in this country. As the current population of Russia ages, the incidence and prevalence of fragility fractures (i.e. hip and spine) is expected to increase. Comorbidities that directly affect bone and the patient's response to injury, surgery rehabilitation and healing, will likely escalate and have adverse affects if left untreated. All physicians and surgeons who treat older adults should have the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care to these patients.

This course will address several areas that many practitioners find to be challenging. Issues in dealing with elderly patients such as metabolic bone disorders, medical co-management, and establishing accountable  care organizations will be covered. This program will not only focus on the concept of care of the fragility fracture in osteoporotic bone but will introduce the concept of co-manage care of the geriatric fracture patient and suggest building blocks that can be utilized in your individual practices and hospital to help build your own program in the future.
